Husband and Wife team springboard redundancy and achieve recession-beating growth for their Devon-based Creative Agency Brighter Creative

26/01/2010 Subject: Brighter Creative News

When Cathy Fisher became the victim of the recession in July 2009, redundancy from her role as Digital Account Manager in a large Devon Advertising Agency was inevitable. Determined to give adversity a smack in the eye and remain in an industry she loved, Cathy joined her husband Sam’s creative agency Brighter Creative with a mission to catalyse growth and create enough income to support an additional salary.

Beyond all reasonable expectations, Brighter Creative have enjoyed a period of sustained growth, taken on more staff and expanded to larger premises.

A significant moment for Cathy and Sam was competing against some of the region’s leading agencies to be awarded a contract by Exmoor National Park Authority to develop the creative materials, website and strategy for a new Heritage and Conservation initiative supported by Heritage Lottery Fund.

Speaking about Cathy’s valuable input, Creative Director and chief designer Sam said “We make a great team; our skills are the perfect complement. Cathy has added a great deal of knowledge and experience to the business, as well as an unrivalled level of attention to detail which has become a Brighter Creative trademark that all our clients appreciate. We have had so many highlights in 2009 and 2010 looks set to be a year of adventure, vibrancy and growth.”

In addition to their own growth, Brighter Creative helped Devon music festival IVYLIVE put itself on the map by making a profit in 2009 from the position of a £30k loss the previous year. Thanks to Brighter Creative, IVYLIVE 2010 is rapidly being lauded as one of this year’ must-see musical events.

On the festival Cathy Said “It’s so satisfying to know that our input has helped our clients to achieve growth. We work creatively with all our clients to help them achieve their commercial objectives. What sets us apart as an agency is that we understand how business objectives fit in to a creative strategy”.

Brighter Creative moved into a new, significantly larger office at the beginning of November. This was a pivotal moment as the office represents what they have achieved in such a short period of time. The fact that they accomplished what they have during the longest recession the UK has ever experienced makes the achievement all the more impressive. Having experienced such growth during a recession it is fascinating to think what Brighter Creative can achieve this year and beyond.
